Bocoran iPhone 5 Mulai Beredar sekarang

Belum genap setahun iPhone 4 dirilis ke pasar, bocoran generasi berikutnya yang sementara disebut-sebut iPhone 5 sudah mulai beredar. Misalnya, laporan terbaru dari China Times, Selasa (22/3/2011).

Disebutkan dalam laporan tersebut bahwa smartphone generasi baru buatan Apple tersebut tengah memasuki masa uji coba produksi. Perangkat yang bakal dibalut sasis logam tersebut konon telah dilengkapi teknologi antena lebih baik dan akan dipasarkan mulai kuartal III-2011.

Salah satu bagian yang mendapat perhatian Apple, menurut laporan itu, adalah masalah antena yang menjadi kekuatan pada iPhone 4. Pada iPhone 5 tidak ada lagi masalah kekuatan koneksi turun karena atenuasi saat bagian ujung-ujung bawahnya digenggam.

Laporan tersebut juga menguatkan desas-desus sebelumnya kalau iPhone 5 bakal dilengkapi cip near field communication (NFC). Dengan teknologi tersebut, pengguna iPhone 5 dapat melakukan transaksi langsung dengan mendekatkan perangkatnya ke alat bayar berbasis komunikasi nirkabel.

Sebelumnya, The New York Times mengutip dua sumber berbeda yang menyebutkan bahwa Apple telah berencana menambahkan cip NFC ke smartphone buatannya. Namun, tidak ada konfirmasi apakah hal tersebut akan dilakukan mulai iPhone 5.

China Times juga mengatakan lagi bahwa iPhone 5 bakal menggunakan layar lebih lebar, yakni 4 inci. Kabarnya, ukuran layar ditambah dari 3,5 inci saat ini menjadi 4 inci tanpa menambah ukuran perangkat tersebut secara keseluruhan, tetapi mengurangi luas bezel atau bingkainya.

Terakhir, iPhone 5 kemungkinan sudah menggunakan prosesor dual core Apple A5. Prosesor yang pertama kali digunakan pada iPad 2 itu menawarkan kecepatan proses komputasi sembilan kali lipat ketimbang Apple A4 yang digunakan saat ini.

Masih dari bocoran tersebut, Foxconn, yang selama ini merakit produk-produk Apple di China, bakal memperluas pabriknya di Brasil karena permintaan yang terus meningkat. Pabrik di Brasil mungkin akan digunakan khusus membuat produk Apple dan akan mulai beroperasi tahun 2013.

Ia mengatakan hasil penjualan sampai petang tadi mencapai 200 unit untuk semua model dan pihaknya menyediakan 2.000 unit ponsel.

Princess adalah produk Nexian yang memiliki fasilitas dual GSM, kamera 2 megapiksel, GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, dan touch screen. Membelinya berarti juga mendapatkan memori eksternal gratis dengan kapasitas 1GB.

Baik Princess, Lady, Phe maupun Diva sepintas secara desain diperuntukkan bagi perempuan. Princess misalnya, berwarna putih dengan wallpaper warna lembut sehingga tampak sangat feminin.

Yang lucu, ternyata bukan perempuan yang paling banyak antre untuk mendapatkan Princess, tapi justru para lelaki. Mayoritas dari mereka hendak membelikan atau menggantikan pasangan yang tak mau antre.

Diskon 50 persen ponsel buatan Nexian yang diadakan pada Senin (28/3/2011) di Grand Seluler Expo, Mal Taman Anggrek, Jakarat Barat, tak urung memicu antrean panjang. Meski pameran baru dibuka pukul 10.00, antrean sudah ada hingga pukul 09.00 pagi tadi. Bahkan, sampai petang, antrean masih terlihat panjang.

Pembeli bisa mendapatkan diskon untuk ponsel Princess, Lady, Phe, dan Diva. Diskon hanya bisa didapatkan bila pembelian dilakukan menggunakan kartu kredit Bank Mega dan satu pembeli hanya berhak satu unit.

Sejumlah pembeli rela antre berjam-jam untuk dapat ponsel murah tersebut. Yesi dari Tanah Abang, misalnya, mengatakan, "Saya sudah antre 3 jam ini."

Demikian pula Vino dari Ciputat. Hingga pukul 17.00 sore, ia mengatakan bahwa antrean masih cukup panjang. Sementara itu, salah seorang pembeli bernama Hadi mengatakan, "Saya sudah antre dari pukul 14.30 tadi."

Lina juga mengatakan hal yang sama. "Sampai dapat teman di sini," kelakarnya.

Keempat tipe ponsel tersebut dijual dengan diskon 50 persen dari harga normal dan hal itu berlaku hingga mal tutup hari ini. Yang paling laris adalah tipe Princess, ponsel layar sentuh dari Nexian yang memiliki harga normal Rp 899.000.

"Bapak Java" James Gosling Berlabuh ke Google

Veteran Sun Microsystems, James Gosling, yang selama ini dikenal sebagai bapak pemrograman Java, akhirnya memilih berlabuh ke Google. Tak lama setelah Sun diakuisisi Oracle, James Gosling keluar dari perusahaan tersebut karena tidak sepaham mengenai masa depan pengembangan Java.

"Setelah mengalami persimpangan yang aneh selama setahun terakhir dan menembus ruang dan waktu sepanjang perjalanan, saya akhirnya memutuskan untuk mulai bekerja di Google hari ini," kata Gosling yang ditulis dalam blog pribadinya, Senin (28/3/2011).

Ia mengaku tak tahu akan melakukan apa ke depan. Namun, ia berharap bisa melakukan banyak hal dan menjalani musim pekerjaan yang berat dan sibuk. Menurutnya, memutuskan untuk menerima pekerjaan tersebut adalah hal yang paling sulit karena ia mengaku sulit berkata tidak pada untuk mneolak pekerjaan lainnya yang tak kalah menantang.

Bergabungnya ke Google termasuk kontroversial karena di saat raksasa internet tersebut digugat Oracle soal hak paten Java. Google menggunakan Java pada platform Android buatannya yang dianggap menyalahi penggunaan paten Oracle.

Jack Dorsey Kembali Memimpin Twitter

Orang pertama yang mencetuskan ide layanan microblogging, Jack Dorsey, kembali memimpin Twitter. Jack Dorsey datang di saat Twitter tengah butuh pengembangan pesat di tengah popularitasnya yang terus naik dan mulai komersiil.

"Hari ini, saya senang sekali bisa kembali bekerja di Twitter untuk memimpin pengembangan produk sebagai Executive Chairman. Dan, tentu saja tetap memimpin Square selamanya. #200 persen," tulis Dorsey, mengungkapkan antusiasmenya di akun Twitter miliknya, Senin (28/3/2011).

Meski sebagai co-founder bersama Evan Williams dan Biz Stone, selama dua tahun Dorsey di luar struktur manajemen Twitter. Terakhir ia menjabat CEO Twitter tahun 2008 sebelum digantikan Evan Williams. Menurut sejumlah sumber, kedua orang tersebut mempunyai kepribadian yang sangat berbeda dan hal tersebut akan berpengaruh terhadap model kepemimpinannya.

Dorsey akan menjabat Executive Chairman, yang bertanggung jawab memimpin pengembangan produk. Ia bertanggung jawab langsung kepada CEO sekarang, Dick Costolo. Sekarang justru gantian Evan Williams yang akan meninggalkan tanggung jawab operasionalnya di Twitter setelah mundur dari CEO Twitter pada Oktober tahun lalu. Namun, Williams akan tetap duduk di anggota dewan direksi dan menjadi penasihat strategi.

Selama dua tahun meninggalkan Twitter, Dorsey memang sempat mendirikan perusahaan start-up baru, Square. Perusahaan yang bergerak menyediakan solusi pembayaran transaksi online lewat perangkat mobile tersebut akan tetap menjadi prioritas bisnis pribadinya. Di Twitter, ia juga dikenal sebagai orang pertama yang mengirimkan pesan pertama cikal bakal layanan microblogging tersebut.

Para pengguna XL kini dapat menikmati layanan uang digital untuk melakukan transaksi nontunai melalui ponselnya. Layanan yang diberi nama XL Tunai ini menyediakan kemudahan untuk melakukan transaksi micropayment.

Ongki Kurniawan, Senior Vice President PT XL Axiata Tbk, Senin (28/3/2011) di Jakarta, mengatakan, salah satu yang akan disasar layanan ini adalah bisnis toko online yang tengah menjamur di Indonesia. Misalnya, model bisnis daily deal yang meniru kesuksesan Groupon di AS.

"Bagi mereka yang sedang tumbuh ini akan sangat menguntungkan karena mereka dapat mengakses 40 juta pelanggan yang kami miliki saat ini," kata Ongki Kurniawan. Pihaknya terus menjajaki dengan para penyedia layanan tersebut dan saat ini sudah ada empat layanan yang segera menggunakan XL Tunai.

Namun, untuk sementara, layanan tersebut baru tersedia di Kota Yogyakarta. Kota-kota lainnya di Jawa dan Bali akan menyusul tahun ini dan ke pulau lainnya mulai tahun depan. Saat ini layanan tersebut juga memang baru dapat digunakan untuk melakukan transaksi pembayaran layanan XL, seperti pengisian pulsa dan pembayaran tagihan.

Untuk dapat menikmati layanan XL Tunai, pelanggan XL harus melakukan registrasi baru dengan cara mengetik *123*120#. Pelanggan dapat memilih batas maksimum rekening Rp 1 juta atau Rp 5 juta. Dari menu tersebut, transaksi dapat dilakukan.

"Bentuknya seperti dompet digital terpisah dari pulsa pelanggan. Untuk saat ini, pelanggan harus datang ke XL Center untuk menyetor uangnya," kata Dony Yuliardi, Business Development PT XL Axiata. Namun, ke depan, XL terus memperluas tempat untuk mengisi XL Tunai dan menambah merchant yang bisa menggunakannya.

Meski belum secara remsi membuka kantor perwakilan di Indonesia, Google terus menyediakan layanan yang dirancang khusus untuk pengguna Indonesia. Setelah terakhir merilis Goole Maps Indonesia, Rabu (16/3/2011), Google juga memperkenalkan layanan Google Voice Search yang dapat mengenali Bahasa Indonesia.

"Hal ini sesuai komitmen kami untuk terus menyediakan layanan sesuai kebutuhan lokal di Indonesia," kata Derek Callow, Head of Marketing Google Southeast Asia, di Jakarta, Rabu (16/3/2011). Google Voice Search juga dibuat untuk mendukung berbagia platform. Saat ini tersedia untuk Android, iPhone, dan BlackBerry.

Dalam kesempatan tersebut, didemonstrasikan bagaimana Google Voice Search bekerja. Henky Prihatna, Indonesia Country Consultant Google memegang smartphone Google Nexus One dan memencet gambar mikrofon di menu search kemudian mengatakan, "Gambar Monumen Nasional." Tak berapa lama kemudian muncul hasil pencarian dengan gambar Monas dan alamat web yang terkait.

Bahkan, layanan ini bisa membantu mencari informasi dengan kalimat panjang. Suara "Siapa pemenang Indonesia idol 2010" menghasilkan hasil pencarian yang salah satunya menjelaskan bahwa pemenang tersebut adalah Igo.

Tidak cukup hanya itu, Hengky pun mencoba menjajal kemampuan Google Voice Search untuk memberi tahu informasi lagu tertentu. Ia mendendangkan satu bait lagu dengan iramanya, "Potong bebek angsa, masak di kuali..." dan hasilnya adalah link video di YouTube yang berisi klip Lagu Potong Bebek Angsa diikuti hasil pencarian yang mengandung judul lagu tersebut atau liriknya.

"Ini asyik sekali karena apa yang kalian katakan langsung keluar hasilnya di situ," kata Hengky yang kini satu-satunya perwakilan Google di Indonesia. Cara pencarian demikian juga bermanfaat buat seseorang yang kerepotan kalau harus mengetik, misalnya saat mencari informasi sambil menyetir. Komunikasi dengan suara juga menurutnya merupakan naluri paling alami ketimbang mengetik atau pakai layar sentuh sehingga akan nyaman digunakan.

Soal tingkat keakuratan hasilpencarian, ia memang tidak menjamin 100 persen selalu tepat karena hal itu tergantung akses, pelafalan, dan ada tidaknya noise di sekitar penutur. Namun, seiring waktu layanan ini terus belajar dari ucapan penutur sehingga makin pintar.

Hal tersebut dikatakan Febriati Nadira, Head of Corporate Communication XL, seperti dilansir situs web Kontan, Rabu (16/3/2011). Dengan tambahan bundel dengan model iPhone terbaru ini, XL menargetkan pendapatan layanan data bisa berkontribusi hingga 10 persen dari total pendapatan XL pada 2011.

Hacker menaklukkan BlackBerry Torch dan iPhone 4

Di tangan hacker, iPhone 4 buatan Apple dan BlackBerry Torch buatan Research In Motion (RIM) ternyata masih bisa dijebol sistem keamanannya. Para hackeryang berpartisipasi dalam kontes Pwn2Own di Vancouver, Kanada, 9-11 Maret 2011, itu berhasil menaklukkan dua smartphone tersebut.

Tiga peneliti dengan nama Team Anon sukses menembus sistem keamanan BlackBerry Torch lewat banyak kelemahan yang ditemukan di Webkit atau mesin rendering browser bawaannya. Mereka berhasil membuktikan dapat menyusupkan program ke perangkat tersebut dengan mengeksploitasi sejumlah kelemahan itu untuk mencuri daftar kontak dan database foto.

Meski banyak kelemahan, tidak mudah menembus BlackBerry. Hal ini karena tidak ada dokumentasi untuk publik mengenai sistem operasi tersebut. Karena itu, hacker harus melakukan teknik trial and error untuk mencoba menembus.

Webkit memang salah satu bagian yang menjadi potensi sasaran empuk. BlackBerry Torch merupakan perangkat BlackBerry pertama yang menggunakan Webkit di browser-nya. Namun,browser tersebut masih belum dilengkapi address space layout randomization (ASLR) dan data execution prevention (DEP). Menurut Iozzo, meski masih dibilang ketinggalan ketimbang iPhone dari sisi keamanan, ketertutupan BlackBerry jadi hambatan tersendiri.

"Akan sulit menyerang sistemnya jika Anda tidak punya dokumentasi dan informasi apa pun," kata Iozzo.

Sementara untuk menyerang iPhone 4, hacker juga memanfaatkan kelamahan pada browserSafari versi mobile. Charlie Miller, seorang peneliti keamanan dari Independent Security Evaluators dan koleganya Dion Blazakis, berhasil menyusupkan program untuk mencuri daftar nama kontak. Ia menggunakan teknik return oriented programming (ROP) dengan mem-bypassDEP.

Target yang diserang adalah iPhone 4 yang menggunakan sistem operasi iOS 4.2. Pada versi terbaru iOS 4.3, kelemahan tersebut belum juga diperbaiki. Namun, tambahan ASLR mungkin akan sanggup menahan teknik yang digunakan untuk menyerang.

"Meski demikian, hanya perlu sedikit modifikasi untuk menembus lapisan keamanan dan perangkat tersebut masih rentan dari serangan sampai MobileSafari ditambal," kata Miller.

Ketiga peneliti, yaitu Vincenzo Iozzo, Willem Pinckaers, dan Ralf Phillip Weinmann, berhak menggondol hadiah 15.000 dollar AS dan perangkat yang ditaklukkannya itu. Hal yang sama untuk tim yang dipimpin Miller.

Sampai kontes berakhir, dua sistem lainnya, Android 2.3 yang berjalan di Samsung Nexus S dan Windows Phone 7 pada Dell Venue Pro belum dapat ditembus. Namun, hal ini bukan karena tingkat keamanannya berhasil bertahan, tetapi karena tidak ada peserta yang menjajalnya.
